During the events of September 11th, 2001, nearly 3,000 people tragically died in New York City due to terrorist attacks on the twin towers. Freshman at Stonehill College Anastasia Virvillis and Lily Phillips both agree that although they weren't alive, 9/11 has had a lasting impact on their education and lives. These 2 young women wouldn't have been born until around 6 years after 9/11, but they can still feel and understand what happened that day. Lily Phillips, a college freshman, said her parents remember the day vividly. “They thought it was a very eerie day, and it was a normal morning. The shop sits on a quiet street, but many people in the community know it well. It feels warm and friendly the moment you walk in. The lights are soft, the smell of fresh coffee fills the room, and the owners greet people with a smile. For many customers, it has become part of their daily routine. The Fuel House is a family business started by Emily Potemri and Rick Votta, two people who live in Easton and wanted to bring something special to the town. Their goal was simple. They wanted to create a place where people feel welcome. “We wanted this place to be more than a shop. Safety is Key When Riding Motorcycles

By Kaya DeAngelis When Brandon George rides his motorcycle, he is always keeping a close eye on where other vehicles are on the road for his own safety. “I’ve had a few incidents on the road of people not seeing me in their blind spot,” said Brandon George, 22-year-old Stonehill College senior, “and that’s okay, because as a rider, we are supposed to be alert and ready to adapt if something like that happens.” He knows that riding a motorcycle can be risky, especially if riders are reckless and don’t take proper safety precautions. In 2023, there were 6,335 motorcyclists killed in accidents, consisting of 15 percent of all traffic fatalities, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). That’s the highest number of motorcyclists killed since 1975. Some motorcyclists say it is the responsibility of the rider to avoid these tragic accidents.
